John is a Kinesiology major at Michigan State University and plans to graduate fall of 2014. He is specializing in exercise physiology and health promotion. He got the chance to study under Justin Grinnell when he interned in summer 2013 and became part of the State of Fitness family. John is certified through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) and is currently studying to acquire the Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) certification.
John grew up in Rochester Hills Michigan and went to high school at Notre Dame Prep in Pontiac. It was there that John found his love for heath and wellness. He played 3 years of Varsity football, and went on to play intermural sports in college. John loves the competitive aspect of sports, but likes to focus on the internal competition that training provides. John began to attend Michigan State University in 2010 and used the fitness as an outlet. He firmly believes that sweating is good for the soul and that no matter how busy your day is, you have time for a workout.
Outside the gym John enjoys staying busy. Between training and homework, he enjoys going on bike rides, reading, bowling, and fishing,
The community aspect of State of Fitness has made John thrive. He loves the fact that he knows most everyone who walks through that door, and cant wait to meet the new members. Under the guidance of Justin Grinnell and rest of the staff of State of Fitness, John looks forward to continue his education in the fitness industry.
