The State of Fitness Sports Performance Academy offers an innovative approach to training- working on a solid foundation while staying focused on each athletes individual goals. Our unique program includes instruction on movement training, injury reduction, speed development, agility, power development, proper weight training techniques, and functional strength training. Athletes are closely suprerivsed as the coaches take them through a 70 minute workout and attention is always paid to proper technique and safety.



 

Who is SPA for?

The State of Fitness Sports Performance Academy is for anyone looking to improve their overall fitness and performance, reduce the risk of injury, and acquire the fundamentals of strength and conditioning. Anyone in grades 9th-12th are able to enroll  in our SPA program. This program is for pre-season, in-season, off-season athletes as well as non-athletes. If you are just looking to  learn how to  workout properly and improve your health and fitness, the SPA program is for you!

 

Training also includes nutrition and regeneration techniques to improve performance and educate young athletes on how decisions off the field, between games, and at practices can improve their overall performance. Athletes work in small groups with coaches to ensure training is done correctly and efficiently.



Who Runs The Sports Performance Academy?

Co-owner and Head Trainer, Justin Grinnell, is the developer of the State of Fitness Sports Performance Academy program. Justin’s experience with young athletes runs deep with over 11 years of experience and 23,000 hours of coaching.

Justin is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. While attending Michigan State University as an Exercise Science and Kinesiology student, Justin had the opportunity to work with hundreds of Division I athletes as an intern in the strength and conditioning department.

Justin has worked with hundreds of athletes from the youth level to the professional and Olympic athlete. Justin has learned the best training methods for athletes from the best coaches around the world.

The State of Fitness SPA program has helped over 100 athletes advance from the high school level to the colligate level. College coaches that have worked with some of Justin’s former SPA athletes say that the SOF athletes come to college more prepared than any of their incoming freshman each and every year.

PROGRAM HIGHLIGHTS

"I have been working out with Justin Grinnell for the past four years and could not be more pleased with the training I have received as well as the results.  This past summer Justin directed my workout program in preparation for my freshman year of playing division 1 hockey at Holy Cross College. From the end of May through August I worked and was pushed harder than ever before training with Justin five days a week. Everyday I looked forward to coming to the gym as Justin and the entire staff of State of Fitness made it enjoyable to work hard and spend time there. The results have been evident, as I have received ample playing time in every game thus far this hockey season as a freshman.
